Makes you forget about the scorpions...for a minute

I was doing the dishes yesterday, and out of the corner of my eye could have sworn I saw something moving quickly across the floor. I looked around to see what it was, but found nothing. I dismissed it and returned to my dishes.
Later that night, my husband found the culprit sitting right in front of my office door (maybe he needed some invites?) and quickly sprayed it with some sort of evil liquid then sucked it up with the vacuum. It was of course a scorpion.
I don't get freaked out easily by bugs. Mind you I'm not going to go out and buy a tarantula and coo at it like a baby, but for the most part I'm OK with crickets, spiders, etc. But jeez are these scorpion creatures gross. So I spent a restless night convinced that a scorpion was going to climb out of my pillow and into my ear.
When I got out of bed this morning, I noticed my husband had left the camera on the kitchen table. My first thought was, "Gross, are you taking PHOTOS of our scorpion population now?" But instead, he showed me this beauty. Taken out back at sunrise. I know I'll be able to enjoy it to the fullest extent after the pest control service comes on Monday. The commercial grade evil scorpion killer cannot come soon enough.

As seen in Arizona Bride

The new issue of Arizona Bride is out, and as usual, they did an amazing job. I'm always struck at the level of professionalism that goes into this magazine. And I'm excited to say that I was featured (twice) inside its glamorous pages! Pick up a copy, on newsstands now.

Sounds Like This

I have a friend who is my go-to for music recommendations. She's always spot on. I have pretty much given up scouting new bands because she more or less knows exactly what I'll like. So in between client projects, business projects and getting my tired self on the treadmill again, I've been totally rocking out to this:
It's kind of like Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon made a baby, and they named the baby Eric Hutchinson. So yeah, it's really good. Even better, you can get the whole album on iTunes for a mere $7.99.

The Flower Studio

I just finished up the design portion of a new website for Christine Siegel at The Flower Studio! Christine has the portfolio to end all portfolios, and now she's got the website to prove it. I was constantly amazed at the work she was sending me to include on the website. She is ridiculously talented.
So check out the site and call Christine for all of your floral design needs. But only if you want the most rockin' flowers ever invented. She doesn't do anything in half measures. Sorry.

Make a Wish

I was recently asked to help fulfill the wish of a young girl participating in the Make A Wish Program's Arizona chapter. Janet Marhover, Catering Manager at Val Vista Lakes spearheaded the operation.
Lizbeth is a 14-year old girl who is battling Renal Disease. Lizbeth's wish was to have a blowout QuinceaƱera before having a kidney transplant in July. So I was of course thrilled when the opportunity presented itself to get involved.
With the help of Artisan Photography and Whitten Printers, we created an invitation featuring a gorgeous photo of Lizbeth and her sister.
This is such an amazing organization and I was so excited to participate in this project. With any luck, this will be Lizbeth's dream party!
Check out this cool story from the Make A Wish site, for further inspiration.

Bright Dance Night

The Bright Girls are hosting a Dance Night at FireSky Resort & Spa on July 9th and they asked me to design a pretty flyer to get all of you to attend.
Oh, how I wish there would have been a dance night before I got married! I do not enjoy lots of people looking at me, especially whilst dancing. I think this definitely would have eased my fears. So for all of you engaged klutzes out there, go to Dance Night! Even if you're not a klutz, go! You can eat, drink and shake your groove thang. And there will be prizes!
